“Good, but not great! First the goods. It was relatively easy to assemble, my thumbs are now numb from holding the what seemed like 80 bolts while i screwed them together. Seems sturdy, turns easy, and seems easy to use. The bads. The air holes are large enough for stuff to fall out, like soy beans were falling out that i put in there after assembly. The doors are way too small which makes placing items into it a chore and I’d assume getting compost out will be a chore as well. And lastly, I seriously dispute the legitimacy of its 43 gallon capacity claim. I have 50 gallon fish tanks and have seen 55 gallon barrels and this is smaller than half of one of those. If I were to guess, the capacity is more closer to 20-30 gallons. This seems tiny for 43!!!” – Jason Moore (Source: Amazon)
“Encantada. Me gustó mucho, un poco tedioso de armar la parte de adentro de enmedio no queda bien encajada pero aún asi está super no creo que tenga problema.” – Diana Barrios (Source: Amazon)
“Everything fit perfectly. Like a glove. This composter came very well packed and protected. The directions were easy to follow, and it even came with the screwdriver. I think I can truthfully say that I had fun putting this unit together. This is one of the few items I’ve ever purchased that needed assembly and all the pieces fit together and all the parts were there. There were even extra screws included. Definitely a heavy duty good looking unit. I’m thinking about buying another one. I don’t think you’d regret this buy.” – Gerald Del Campo (Source: Amazon)
“Solid unit – assembly ok with patience. Great composter that is solid once built. Doors seal it up tight. Spins easy. Unit is five stars. The two separate spaces allow you to “cook” one batch while making another.People have written negative reviews related to assembly. I had no trouble with it after reading tips in these reviews and following the directions. There are close to 60 screws that need to be hand tightened so plan on 2 hours. The center partition needs to be aligned at the arrows. There will be a small gap. That’s ok – only dirt will fit through not a whole banana peel. The center partition goes in when you have half the sides up. Recommend some help if you are older or not handy. There is one review on here calling it a “demon barrel”. This guy clearly didn’t read the instructions as he waited until the very end to put the center partition in. Didn’t line up the arrows. So no offense but don’t put too much weight on that review lol.Update: after 6 months, very happy. Produced first batch of compost. Took a while but we basically just threw everything in and didn’t fuss about it. Good luck!” – Joe Young (Source: Amazon)
“Solid option for the price! Overall in my opinion is the best composter you can get on Amazon when taking cost into account. You could spend 5X as much and get a little heavier duty and larger one, but its all diminishing returns at that point.Pros:This composter will definitely get the job done and creates compost quick with the tumbling ability, air vents, and dark color to attract more heat from the sun. After assembly it is pretty solid and although it looks kind of small, it will fit a lot of compost. I’ll have a hard time filling it.Cons:Definitely a little tedious to assemble, as each side of the octagonal container needs screwed together and each side takes roughly 5-7 screws to fully attach.” – Dylan B. “Not a pleasure to put together, but pretty sturdy! I bought this to compost with. What came in the box were all the parts, screws and bolts, and white gloves. The gloves were included to protect your hands but got in the way. I don’t emoted them and did not use them at all. This was not a pleasure to put together. After about two hours of screwing tiny screws into the plastic holes, I finally got it together. I think if I were going to buy another composing container, I will buy one already assembled. The directions had pictures but they were hard to read due to the dark and blurred images. It also came with a screwdriver.” – Jasper (Source: Amazon)
“Vivosun 43 gallon composter. I spent about 2 hours putting the composter together. The bottom metal tubes of the frame were hard to fit together but with a bit of determination I got them to snap closed. As I put the bin together I only hand tightened the screws in the bin, in case I needed to take some out (and things tend to fit better if it’s a bit loose. Once you put the center divider in and you start to add more outside pieces, you need to make sure that the center piece is fitted properly into the groove in the middle of the next outside pieces. Check and adjust as you go or you will have to take it apart. After the bin was together I went back and tightened all the screws. The only other thing that’s a little tough is putting the end screws into the stand. The bin is bulky enough to make it hard to see as you put it on. A second pair of hands would be helpful here but it’s still doable with one person. And this is from the perspective of a 66 year old woman.” – DLS35 (Source: Amazon)
“This was a perfect solution to my first compost project. This product came quickly after I purchased it. It came in a relatively smaller box that I imagined it would. It needs to he assembled, but that was not hard. The only tool needed was a Phillips screwdriver that was included. My only complaints were in the vagueness of the instructions. There was only picture of where to put one screw, and did not show the nut was going on the inside. It’s obvious if you have put things together before, but if you are waiting for the instructions to tell you where all the screws go, it left that out. It also needed to explain that when putting the legs together there was a direction they needed to go in. There were 2 of each piece but had holes that the parts slide into and lock on different sides, according to front and back. To figure that out, lay the feet pieces out on the ground and see where the holes go and how it fits into the legs. But other that that, I love it. It came with 2 pares of gloves. One pare of gloves with claws on the tops to grasp and pull clumps of compost. Dont know what the light pare of white gloves are for. Maybe to wear inside the other? It’s a big enough drum that rotates easily on the bar so you can mix you materials. The two doors open separate for the divided area so you can have to separate mixes going in different stages. There are air holes for circulation. Overall very steady and perfect for what we needed.” – Amazon Customer (Source: Amazon)
“Makes me feel like I’m doing something good. I’ve never composted before, and I don’t have a green thumb. But I’m really enjoying the feeling I get when I take my food scraps out and recycle them into something that’ll be good for the planet in a few months. 🙂 As for this unit, it’s great. It took two people to put it together, and we saw in other reviews that the center dividing piece won’t fit in securely – which it didn’t – so that was fine. There’s one little thing when building it to note… you have to put the joining pieces in at a certain angle so the tab pops into the right spot before screwing it in, or else you’ll have a little bulge between each piece. We ended up having to undo one of the first pieces to fix this after we realized what we’d done wrong, since the instructions weren’t as helpful on that as they could have been. But once we had the process down, it was smooth, and I absolutely love the bin. It’s easy to fill, easy to tumble, stays solidly in place, and it’s working! It’s been about a month, and I can see all my leaves and food junk turning into brown compost. An old onion I threw in a week ago practically turned into a foot-tall onion plant in the bin overnight, so I took that out and planted it. :)If you have a lot of lawn waste, it does fill up quickly, but for my purposes as a casual composter, it’s absolutely perfect.” – Amy Boyd (Source: Amazon)
“Good Composter. Great little composter. There are just the two of us, so the 43 gallon size is perfect. Can’t believe how much stuff we are keeping out of the regular trash with having somewhere to chuck our compostables. Save the planet, enrich your garden!” – Cee Cee (Source: Amazon)
“Easy to put together. I was scared to put this together based on reviews, but I found it pretty easy, though time consuming. Composter works well and is easy to turn.” – Regina Linsley (Source: Amazon)
“Great Product – set aside time to assemble. This isn’t hard to put together just very tedious. There aren’t many parts so it’s easy enough to figure out but the directions refer to pieces by letter and they’re labeled by number or not at all, so that took me a minute to just to lay it all out. Aside from that it is sturdy. I’ll post an update after it’s got some compost produced!” – Cassandra Collins (Source: Amazon)
“Excellent. Excellent instructions, very sturdy, all parts lined up exactly, extra bolts and end caps. Took about 2 hours to assemble, I am a 75 year old female. I highly recommend this compost bin.” – Dixie E. Hart (Source: Amazon)
“Love it. Easy to put together. Like the fact that it has 2 separate sides so when one is full and is composting I can fill the other side. Solid buy for a person who composts” – Jessica Brown (Source: Amazon)
“Pretty easy to assemble. Haven’t used it yet. It was pretty straight forward to assemble it. It comes with picture directions that are easy to follow. There were 3 extra small screws and nuts. Two of the small screws had the larger nuts on them to keep them separated to use with the 2 bigger screws.” – f. p. (Source: Amazon)
“Great addition to the garden. Easy to build. Instructions were a little bland but enough to get the idea and easy enough to put together. I like the size of the drum and it sits low to the ground not taking up too much space. Only thing I would like to see different is a space big enough to fit a shovel or something in to pull the compost out when ready to use.” – Kathryn Young (Source: Amazon)
“Works well for the price, hard to empty. It’s a decent product for the price, my only negative is that with the small sliding doors is very difficult to empty when you have compost to get out.” – MaryNC (Source: Amazon)
