The mattress inside is good quality, removable dense foam about 3″ thick. Unfortunately you cannot remove the filling of the donut portion, but at least it is also plush and dense. The zipper around the bottom is a good zipper, concealed by the colored suede fabric lining underneath. Good rubbery grip bumps keep it in place on my hard floor. “Beautiful dog bed. I bought this dog bed for my elderly dog in the teal blue shade. It’s not only comfortable and easy for my dog to get in and out of (he took to it immediately) but it’s also very attractive and looks great in my living room. It’s easy to wash and doesn’t pick up all the dust that his old one did (it was a fuzzier kind of bed.) I looked for something that was more oval since my dog likes to curl up, but I couldn’t find anything this nice. I figure I can always add a light blanket for the winter, but he seems to love it as is.
